Long Branch beach
is comprised of two miles of beach with adjacent boardwalk, then an additional three miles with adjacent homes and a county park. This gives a total of five miles of public beach with numerous access points
indicated on this beach map
. The picture above of Cottage Place beach entrance shows the adjacent boardwalk that dramatically overlooks the beach from atop a 10 to 27-foot bluff. Also shown at Cottage Place is a modern restroom building, and stairs and handicap ramp down to the beach where there is an outdoor shower.
Numerous stairways and handicap ramps everywhere along the Long Branch beach boardwalk provide access eastward directly from the boardwalk down to the beach. Adjacent to and on the other (west) side of the boardwalk is the Ocean Ave. roadway that is shared by bicyclists, skateboarders, roller bladers and, in some sections vehicles accessing on-street and private parking. A sidewalk along the west side of the Ocean Ave. roadway is typically used by dog walkers, and also provides access to houses and residential buildings, some currently being redeveloped, that are discretely set back westward from the public beach, boardwalk, roadway and sidewalk.
Shown above is Long Branch beach (north) near 7 Presidents Park with amenities nearby including strategically located modern restrooms, outdoor showers, snack bars, restaurants, and shops of all types.
These two pictures show Long Branch beach at Pier Village (central) and West End (south) with numerous restaurants and shops nearby. The scenes above capture visitors and residents enjoying band concerts at Pier Village (eclectic, each summer Thursday evening) and at West End (blues and jazz, each summer Sunday evening).
